As a people who fully embrace the fact that “God comforts us in all of our troubles so that we can comfort others”, we strive to be a community where people are accepted as they are and ministries of compassion and mercy are intentionally pursued.

Food Pantry
Through generous gifts and donations, we are able to provide food and grocery items to families in need, once a month.  A select list of various food and hygienic items are distributed to 20-25 families within our community; the grocery packs are intended as an emergency or supplemental gesture of benevolence.  Grocery items can be placed in the blue “Food Pantry” boxes located at the front entry of the church; financial contributions are always welcome, as well.
Clothing Closet
The Clothing Closet attempts to help our friends and neighbors prepare for the seasonal weather we experience in Midvale by providing the appropriate type of clothing, shoes, and sometimes bedding, for the upcoming seasons.  Gently used and laundered clothing donations are appreciated; there is always a great need for children’s clothing and men’s work clothes.  Clothing donations are collected in bins located in the gymnasium.
Financial Assistance
Designated financial gifts allow us to offer a “last resort” source of financial assistance, from time-to-time.  This source of help may be used when the family or individual requesting assistance has explored all other possibilities of help from friends, family, savings, or investments.  It is a temporary help during a time of crisis and is intended to be a one-time gift.  The Elders of the church have the ultimate authority for disbursing the church’s benevolence funds to those whose particular need qualifies for financial assistance.

Home Building Mission Trips

Each summer since 2003, a team of volunteer “builders” from Cornerstone Church enter into the poor neighborhoods of Mexico to construct a house for a family in need there.  Our Mexico Mission teams vary from year to year as God calls and raises people to go and live outside our American standard of comfort, to engage in hard labor and touch the lives of people we do not know…but will never forget.  The team works under Amor Ministries, a world mission organization that has a strong working relationship with the Mexican authorities to provide access and permission to carry on their ministry there.  Our church provides the team, but it also provides the prayer and financial support to the team.  If you’d like to know more about how to get involved or about the mission, contact the Church Office at 801-568-0954.
Thoughts and experiences from team members that served in 2014 can be found here in the Mexico Newsletter 2014.
