I often say, “We have enough to do everything God has called us to do.” Enough people.
Enough resources.
Enough everything. Reflect on this with me for a moment.
What does it mean to have enough?
Enough food to feed my family things that they like to eat.
Enough money to heat our house in the winter and cool it in the summer.
Enough kids to do all the chores that I can come up with.
Enough for everything I need
and almost even for everything
I want.
Enough friends that I can call someone
when I’m down. I can invite
someone over when I want to celebrate. I can trust someone with my feelings, fears, and even my failures.
Enough is a nice thing to have. Not everyone has enough.
Paul writes to the Church in Corinth to say: “God can give you all you need. He will give you more than enough. You will have everything you need for yourselves. And you will have enough left over to give when there is a need.”
Not just enough, but more than enough.
More than enough.
Who is this more than enough promised to?
It’s in the text just before the promise.
Those who give generously.
So I’ve been confessing my belief that
we have enough.
Enough for everything that God has
called us to do.
Enough people.
